His mouth is the seat of speech and of fire; the seven layers of the body are the field of the metres. His tongue is the seat of the offerings to gods and to the fathers, of nectar and food, and of every taste. His two nostrils are the highest resort of all the breaths and of the wind. His smelling is the seat of the Asvins and of the healing herbs, and of delight and greater delight. His eye is of forms and of the lights; his two eyeballs are of the sky and the sun. His ears are of the quarters and of the holy fords, his hearing of space and of sound. His body is the vessel of the pith of things and of good fortune.

His skin is of touch and of the wind that touches, and of the sacrifice that offers everything. His body hairs are of the kinds that sprout from the ground, by which the sacrifice is furnished. His hair and beard and nails are of stone and iron, of cloud and lightning. His arms are of the guardians of the worlds, whose work is for the most part keeping things safe. His stride is the earth, the middle air and heaven. Hari's foot is the place of safety and of refuge, and of the best of everything one could want.
