My speech, dear one, is nowhere found to be false, nor does my mind anywhere go a false way, nor do my senses fall into a bad road — because Hari is held in this heart of mine that longs for him. And yet I, who am made of the whole tradition and made of austerity, bowed to as the lord of the lords of creatures, took up yoga with skill and a gathered mind and did not reach him from whom I myself came to be. I bow to that foot of his, which cuts off becoming for those who come to it, a way to well-being, most auspicious. He alone has gone all round the reach of his own maya, as the sky goes round what lies inside it. How then should any other?

Neither I nor you know his true course, nor does Vamadeva, and how much less the other gods. Our understanding bewildered by his maya, we look at what he has made and see it as no more than ourselves. We and those like us sing the deeds of his descents, and still do not know him as he is. To that Bhagavan, salutation.
