Seeing his father pleased, the great-grandfather of the worlds, the sage among the gods asked him the very thing you are asking me. To him the maker of beings, well pleased, spoke this ancient telling, the Bhagavata with its ten marks, which the Bhagavan had spoken to him; he told it to his son. Narada told it, king, on the bank of the Sarasvati, to the sage Vyasa of measureless splendour, who was meditating there on the highest Brahman. And what you asked me, how this came to be from the Person of the vast form, that I shall tell you, and your other questions too, all of them.
