10This universe was then flooded with water, when he, whose sight sleep did not close, closed his eyes, lying alone upon the couch of the serpent king, at leisure, delighting in his own self and wanting nothing. 11With the subtle elements laid within his body, rousing the power whose nature is time, he dwelt in that water in his own place, as fire dwells in wood with its force held in. 12Sleeping in the water for a thousand fourfold ages, by his own power roused by himself and called time, the web of works came upon him, and he saw within his own body the worlds that had been drawn in. 13As his sight stood fixed upon that subtle object, the object within him, made finer by passion, pierced by the strand that follows upon time, and ready to be brought forth, burst out then from the region of his navel.
14That bud of a lotus rose up all at once by the working of time, which wakens deeds, lighting that wide water with its own radiance like the sun; and it was the birthplace of the self-born.
