It is full of thickets of holy trees and creepers, with holy beasts and birds calling in them, rich in fruit and flower of every season, splendid with its rows of woodland. It rings with flocks of drunken birds and the wandering of drunken bees, with drunken peacocks swaggering like actors, and it calls out with drunken cuckoos. It is decked with kadamba, campaka, asoka, karanja, bakula and asana, with kunda and mandara and kutaja, and with young mango trees. It is sweetly noisy with karandavas and plavas, with swans, ospreys, water-fowl, cranes, cakravakas and cakoras. And so too it is thick with deer and boars, porcupines, wild oxen and elephants, with cow-tailed monkeys and lions and apes, mongooses and musk deer.
