40It is full of thickets of holy trees and creepers, with holy beasts and birds calling in them, rich in fruit and flower of every season, splendid with its rows of woodland. 41It rings with flocks of drunken birds and the wandering of drunken bees, with drunken peacocks swaggering like actors, and it calls out with drunken cuckoos. 42It is decked with kadamba, campaka, asoka, karanja, bakula and asana, with kunda and mandara and kutaja, and with young mango trees. 43It is sweetly noisy with karandavas and plavas, with swans, ospreys, water-fowl, cranes, cakravakas and cakoras. 44And so too it is thick with deer and boars, porcupines, wild oxen and elephants, with cow-tailed monkeys and lions and apes, mongooses and musk deer.
45Entering that best of fords with his daughter, the first of kings saw the sage sitting there, having poured his offering into the fire.
