9Tell me the mark of nature, best of persons, and of the Person too, of these two causes of the world, and of what is made of the real and the unreal. 10Bhagavan said: That which has the three strands, unmanifest, without end in time, made of the real and the unreal, they call the ground and nature: it has no distinctions of its own and holds them all. 11By five, and five, and four, and ten this Brahman is counted, and they know this group of twenty-four to belong to the ground. 12The great elements are just five: earth, water, fire, wind and sky. And the subtle elements are as many, smell and the rest, as I hold them.
13The senses are ten: hearing, the skin, sight, taste and smell; speech, the two hands, the two feet, the organ of sex, and the vent is called the tenth. 14Mind, understanding, I-making and thought: this is what belongs to the one within. Its division is seen as fourfold by its working, which is what shows what each of them is. 15Just this much is counted as the setting-together of Brahman with strands, and I have spoken it; and there is time, which is the twenty-fifth.
