16Some call time the power of the Person. Fear comes from it for the one who does, bewildered by I-making and fallen under nature. 17Daughter of Manu, nature has her strands level and no distinctions in her, and that from which movement comes in her is the Bhagavan, and he is marked out as time. 18It is the Bhagavan who by his own maya comes into living beings from within in the form of the Person, and from without in the form of time. 19The ordering of his own womb was stirred by fate, and the supreme Person laid his strength in it, and she brought forth the great principle, which is made of gold. 20Showing forth the world that lay within himself, standing unmoved, the sprout of the world, he drank up with his own brightness the sharp darkness that had put the self to sleep.
21That which is the strand of clarity, clean and at peace, the place of the Bhagavan, which they call by the name Vasudeva, is thought, and it is made of the great principle. 22Being clear, being unchanging, being at peace: so the mark of thought is spoken by its workings, as water is spoken of in its highest nature.
