Verse 20

¹⁷Devahuti said: Brahmin, nature never releases the Person, since the two rest upon one another and both are without beginning, lord. ¹⁸As there is no being of scent apart from earth, nor of taste apart from water, so it is with the understanding and with the supreme. ¹⁹This bondage of action belongs to the Person, who does not act, and it rests upon him; while nature's strands remain, how can there be aloneness among them? ²⁰Even where that fierce fear has been made to cease by reflection upon the truth, since its cause has not ceased, it takes its stand again.
