And hear from me the muttering that is the highest secret, king's son. Say it over for seven nights, and a man sees those who travel the sky. Om, salutation to the Bhagavan, to Vasudeva. With this formula a wise man who knows the divisions of place and time should make the god a worship of substance, with things of many kinds. Worship the lord with clean water, with garlands out of the woods, with roots and fruit and the rest, with good shoots and with cloth, and with tulasi, which he loves. Get an image of substance, or else worship in earth or water or the rest; hold yourself in, keep silence, be at peace, rein in your speech, and eat a measured amount of what the woods give.

Hold in mind what he whose renown is highest will do in descents that he wills himself, by his own maya beyond all thinking; for it goes to the heart. Whatever attendances on the Bhagavan were served before, do them all with the heart of the formula alone, to him whose body is the formula. The Bhagavan, held within the mind and attended in this way with body and mind and speech, in an attendance full of devotion, makes the feeling grow in men without guile who serve him rightly, and gives those who wear bodies whatever good they have set their hearts on, in dharma and the rest. And a man turned away from delight in the senses should serve him outright for release, with a full yoga of devotion and a feeling that has no break in it.
