Brahmin, what the revered one has said I have heard and looked into. Our teachers do not know this; and if they knew it, why would they not say it? The great doubt they made in me is cut through here, brahmin, at the place where the workings of the senses do not reach and even the seers are bewildered. A man begins works here with one body and leaves it behind, and there, with another body, he tastes what those works have brought. So runs the talk of those who know the Veda, heard here and there. The work that is done, though it is spoken of, stays out of sight and does not show itself. With the very thing by which he begins the work, with that a man tastes it there, and nothing comes between: with the subtle form, with the mind, himself.

As a man leaves this body lying here and breathing, and tastes the work laid up in himself, by a body like this one or by another.
