29So, his own sons having gone the way of quietness, that lord of the earth enjoyed the earth for eleven ten millions of years. The twang of the bowstring, pressed by the pair of his club-like arms filled with the pith of a manliness nothing could check, brought all opposition to dharma to a stop. And with Barhismati, with her womanly shyness and her shy smiling glances and her lovely play, and his delight in her spreading and growing day by day, he was as it were a man whose discernment was overcome, and as it were a man who did not understand; and his mind was great all the same. 30So far as the revered sun goes round the mountain of the gods and lights it, it scorches only half the face of the earth and leaves the other half covered over. He did not welcome this, his power beyond a man's built up by his worship of the Bhagavan; and saying, I shall make the night day as well, he went round after the sun seven times in a chariot as swift as it and made of light, like a second sun.
31And the trenches cut by the rims of his chariot wheels became those seven seas, and out of them the seven islands of the earth were made. 32Their names are Jambu, Plaksa, Salmali, Kusa, Krauñca, Saka and Puskara. Each in turn is twice the measure of the one before it, and they are set out one outside another, all around. 33The seven seas are of salt water, of the juice of sugar cane, of liquor, of clarified butter, of milk, of the whey of curd, and of clean water. Like moats to the seven islands, each the same size as the island within it, one by one and in order, they are laid out separately all around the seven outer islands. And over these, over Jambu and the rest, the husband of Barhismati set his obedient sons, named Agnidhra, Idhmajihva, Yajnabahu, Hiranyareta, Ghrtaprstha, Medhatithi and Vitihotra, one ruler to each according to their number.
34And he gave his daughter, named Urjasvati, to Usanas; and on her was born the daughter of Kavi named Devayani.
