Somewhere strong men carry off his goods, and his mind gives way; grieving and bewildered, he falls into a faint. And somewhere, having got inside a city of the gandharvas, he is glad for an hour as though he were at peace. Sometimes he walks with thorns and gravel in his feet; wanting to climb a hill, he sits down out of heart. At every step, burnt by the fire inside him, the man with a household to keep grows angry with people. Somewhere a man swallowed by a python knows nothing, cast away in the wood; and somewhere, bitten by snakes, he lies; blind, he has fallen into a blind well in the dark. Sometimes, hunting out small sweetnesses, he is stung by the bees of them and made light of; and when at last with great trouble he has got hold of it there, others come and take it from him by force.

Sometimes he sits with no power to do anything against cold and heat and wind and rain; and somewhere, dealing this and that with one another, they come to hate each other over cheating for money. Now and again his money runs out there, and he is left without bed or seat or standing place or amusement; begging from another and not getting what he wants, with his eye on what belongs to others, he is treated with contempt. With enmity grown up between them over money passing back and forth, marrying one another, going about on this road amid great hardships and pressures and troubles over money, he comes to grief.
