6Scorched by it, the gods left heaven and went to Brahma's world and made it known to the Ordainer: God of gods, lord of the world, 7burned by the austerity of the Daitya lord, we cannot stay in heaven. Put an end to it, abundant one, if you think fit, before the worlds are lost, the worlds that carry you their offering, you who stand over all. 8This, they say, is what he intends as he carries out that hard austerity. Let it be heard. What is there that you do not know? Yet it is reported to you. 9Having sent out this world of moving and standing things by austerity and yoga and gathered attention, the highest one sits on his own seat above all the stations.
10So I too, by austerity and yoga and gathered attention as they grow, and because time and the self go on without end, will win the same for myself. 11And by my force I will make this other than it was before. What are those other worlds to me, the world of Visnu and the rest, that time shakes off at the end of the age? 12This is the stubbornness we have heard of in a man set on the highest austerity. Do yourself what is fitting now, lord of the three worlds. 13Your highest seat, lord of the world, is for the twice-born and the cows: for their being, their good, their thriving, their safety and their winning.
