1The little boy thought that all of it stood in the way of the yoga of devotion, and smiling, he said to the lord of the senses: 2Do not tempt me with those boons, tied as I am to desires by my very birth. It is from fear of that clinging that I turned away, wanting release, and came to you. 3Master, you pushed your devoted one toward desires, wanting to know the marks of a servant: desires that are the seeds of the round of birth, the knots in the heart. 4It could not be otherwise with you, teacher of all, whose self is pity. A man who asks blessings of you is not a servant; he is a trader. 5One who asks his master for blessings for himself is no servant, and one who gives blessings because he wants mastery over a servant is no master.
6I want nothing, and I am yours; you are the master and you lean on nothing. Between us here there is no other business, as there is between a king and his man. 7If you will give me the things I want, bull among the givers of boons, then this is the boon I ask of you: that no desire sprout in my heart.
