This is the holy story of the descent of Krsna, the god who is kind to brahmins, the great self, in which the two first Daityas were killed; and the doings of Prahlada, who is great among the Lord's own: his devotion, his knowledge, his turning away, and what Hari truly is; and the telling of the qualities and deeds of the Lord of making and keeping and undoing; and the great overturning by time of the stations high and low; and the dharma of the Lord's own, by which the Bhagavan is reached. In this account everything that has to do with the self is gathered, and nothing left out. A man who has heard this holy account, filled out with the feats of Visnu, and says it out with trust, is loosed from the cords of works.

One who reads with care this play of the first Person as lord of beasts, and the killing of the leader of the Daitya hosts, and who hears the holy power of that Daitya's son, first among the good, comes to the world where there is nothing to fear.
