The two chief gandharvas, Visvavasu and Paravasu, sang; the drums of the gods sounded; and the dancing women danced for joy. Others too in the same way, Vayu and Agni and Varuna and the rest, cut down with floods of weapons those who stood against them, as lions cut down deer. Sent by Brahma to the gods, king, the god-sage Narada held the wise ones back, seeing the Danavas going to their end. The nectar has been got by you, who took shelter in Narayana's arms; you have all been made to thrive by Sri. Leave off this quarrel. Holding back the heat of their anger and honouring the sage's word, they all went to the heaven of the thirty, their followers singing after them.
