What you have promised him, not knowing the harm in it, I do not hold to be good. A great ruin has come upon the Daityas. This Hari, a young student made of maya, will take from you your place, your lordship, your fortune, your fire, your fame and your learning, and give them to Sakra. With his body the whole world, he will step across these worlds in three strides. Having given everything you have to Visnu, foolish man, how will you live? With one foot the pervading one steps over the earth, with the second over heaven, and with his great body over the middle air. Where is there any room for the third? I hold that you will end in hell, as one who does not give what he has promised, since you are not able to make good what you have promised.

They do not praise a gift by which a man's own living is ruined. Giving, sacrifice, austerity and works belong in this world to one who has a living. Dividing his wealth five ways, for dharma, for good name, for gain, for what he wants, and for his own people, a man takes joy both here and beyond.
