Durvasas came back from the bank of the Yamuna, having done what had to be done. Welcomed by the king, he made out in his mind what the king had done. His body shaking with anger, his face bent into a frown, and very hungry besides, he spoke to the man who stood before him with folded hands: Look at this cruel man, drunk with his fortune, and how he has stepped across dharma: a man not devoted to Visnu, who takes himself for the Lord. He invited me as a guest come to his house, and then ate without giving me anything. I will show you the fruit of that at once. Saying this, blazing with fury, he tore out a lock of his matted hair and out of it made against the king a fell being like the fire at the end of time.

Seeing her come down on him, burning, a sword in her hand, making the earth shake under her foot, the king did not move from where he stood. Ordered beforehand to the guarding of the one who serves him, the disc of that great Person burnt up that fell being, as fire burns an angry snake.
