The king's son by Kesini was the one called Asamanjasa. His son was named Amsuman, and he was given over to his grandfather's good. Asamanjasa showed himself to be a man out of joint. He remembered his birth, having been a yogin before and shaken out of that yoga by attachment. Doing work that the world blames and that his own kinsmen hated, he threw into the Sarayu the children who were playing there, and set the people shuddering. Going on in this way he was cast off by his father, who put his affection aside. By the lordliness of yoga he showed those children alive again, and then went away. All the people of Ayodhya, king, were amazed to see the children come back; and the king too was sorry for what he had done.
