Then Santaraja was born, who had done what there was to do and was master of himself. Raji had five hundred sons, whose might could not be measured. Asked by the gods, he killed the Daityas and gave heaven over to Indra. And Indra gave it back to him, and took hold of Raji's feet, and gave himself over to him, being afraid of Prahlada and the other enemies. When the father had died, the sons would not give it back to him though he asked for it. They took for themselves the third heaven that was great Indra's, and the portions of the sacrifices too. And when the teacher was offering into the fire, the splitter of Bala, upon the sons of Raji,

struck them down, fallen as they were from their path, and not one of them was left. From Kusa came Prati, and from him, in Ksatravrddha's line, Sanjaya, and his son was Jaya. Then came Krta, and of Krta was born the king Haryabala. From him came Sahadeva, and then Hina, and Hina's son was Jayasena. His son was Sankrti, and his son Jaya, called Ksatradharma, a great chariot-fighter. These are the kings of Ksatravrddha's line. Now hear the line that came down from Nahusa.
