Hearing of it, king, the revered one who is dear to the Bhagavan grew angry, and meaning to kill him he came down on Kaliya at great speed. As he swept in, the one whose weapon is poison rose to meet him with many heads lifted. His teeth were his weapons, and he bit Suparna with them, his tongue horrible, his fierce eyes swollen wide. Tarksya's son, on whom the slayer of Madhu sits, threw him off in fury, and moving with terrible speed and terrible force he struck the son of Kadru with his left wing, which shone like gold. Struck by Suparna's wing and altogether overcome, Kaliya went down into that pool of the Kalindi which Garuda could not reach and could not come near.
