The brahmins who were his elders came to Nanda with their wives and said: your son, who was taken by Kaliya, is free, by our good fortune. Make a gift to the twice-born for Krsna's coming free. Nanda, glad in his mind, king, then gave orders for cows and for gold. Yasoda too, greatly favoured and true, having lost her child and got him back, held him close, set him on her lap, and let the tears fall again and again. That night, lord of kings, the people of Vraja and the cows, worn down with hunger and thirst and hard use, lay there on the bank of the Kalindi.
