Bhagavan said: My births and my deeds and my names are in thousands, dear one, and they cannot be counted through, being endless, even by me. Someone might at some time count the grains of dust of the earth through many births of his own; never my births, with their qualities and their deeds and their names. My births and deeds run through all three times, king, and the highest sages, going through them one by one, never come to the end of them. Even so, dear one, hear what I tell of the present ones. Long ago Virinci asked me, for the guarding of dharma and for the wearing away of the demons who were becoming a weight on the earth,

and I came down in the family of Yadu, in the house of Anakadundubhi. They call me Vasudeva, since I am the son of Vasudeva. Kalanemi was killed as Kamsa, and Pralamba and the rest, the haters of the good; and this Yavana here was burnt, king, by your fierce eye. So I have come to this cave for a kindness to you, since long ago you asked much of me, who am tender to those devoted to me. Choose your boons, royal sage; I give you every wish. No one to whom I am kind has to grieve again.
