Once he goes about with chariots finished in gold, or on rutting elephants, and is called god among men; and by time, which cannot be got past, that same body of yours gets the name of dung, or worms, or ash. Having conquered the circle of the quarters, with no one left to fight, sitting on the highest seat, praised by kings who are his equals, a man is led about at home, Lord, like a pet animal for the bed pleasure of women. He does works, standing firm in austerity, turned away from enjoyment and taking it up again with an eye to that; and thinking let me be more yet, let me rule alone, his thirst grown big, he is not fit for happiness.

When a release from the round is to come for a person wandering in it, Unfallen One, then he meets the good; and the moment he has that company, then and there a mind is born in him set on you, the goal of the good, the lord of the high and the low. I take it as a kindness done to me by you, Lord, that the tie to a kingdom fell away of itself: the thing good men ask for, kings of whole lands who want to go into the forest and live alone.
