30Best among the best of the twice-born, does your duty go on for you without too much hardship, the duty the elders approve, and is your mind always content? 31When a brahmin is content with whatever comes, and does not fall away from his own duty, that duty milks every wish for him. 32A man not content, though he were lord of the gods, gets world after world and is not filled; a man content, though he has nothing, lies down with the fever gone from every limb. 33To brahmins content with what comes to them, good men, the truest friends of all beings, free of I-making, at peace, I bow my head again and again. 34Brahmin, is it well with you all, from the king? A king in whose land the people live happily, being kept, is dear to me.
35You have come here of your own wish, crossing hard country. Tell us all of it, if it is not a secret. What needs doing? What are we to do for you?
