If the Bhagavan, the highest Lord, has been worshipped enough by me, with works for the public good and sacrifices and gifts and restraints and vows and the honouring of gods and brahmins and teachers and the rest, then come, elder brother of Gada, and take my hand, and let it not be the son of Damaghosa or any of the others. Unconquered one, the marriage is tomorrow. Come to Vidarbha unseen, with the captains of your army about you; break the force of the Cedi and Magadha lords by main strength, and marry me by the rule of the raksasas, my price being your own valour. You may say: you live inside the women's quarters, so how am I to marry you without killing your kinsmen? I will tell you a way. The day before there is a great procession to the family goddess, in which the new bride goes outside to the daughter of the mountain.

Great ones want to be washed in the dust of his lotus feet, as the lord of Uma does, to drive the dark out of themselves. Lotus-eyed one, if I do not get your kindness I will give up this life of mine, worn thin with vows; it may come after a hundred births. These are the secret messages I have carried, god of the Yadus. Think them over, and let whatever is to be done here be done at once.
