22Bhismaka's fair daughter, longing for Hari to come and seeing no word come back from the brahmin, thought then: 23My wedding is three watches off and I so poorly favoured. The lotus-eyed one does not come, and I do not know the reason for it. Nor has the brahmin who carried my message returned even now. 24Perhaps that faultless one, seeing something in me to turn from, will not come for my hand after all, though he had set himself to it. 25The Ordainer has no kindness for me, luckless as I am, nor the great Lord; or the goddess Gauri, Rudra's wife, the mountain's daughter, the true one, has turned her face away. 26Thinking so, the girl, her mind carried off by Govinda, knowing how near the hour was, closed her eyes, and they were brimming with tears.
27King, while the bride waited like this for Govinda to come, her left thigh and arm and eye began to throb, and their word was a good one.
