So the Bhagavan, having beaten the lords of the earth, brought Bhismaka's daughter to his city and married her as the rule lays down, carrier of the Kuru line. Then, king, there was a great festival among the people of the Yadu city, house by house, whose feeling turned on nothing but Krsna, lord of the Yadus. Men and women, glad, their jewelled earrings polished, brought their wedding gifts to the bride and groom in their bright clothes. That Vrsni city shone with Indra's banners raised high, with arches of many-coloured wreaths and cloth and jewels, and at every door with the auspicious things set out: brimming water jars, aloe incense, lamps.

Its roads were sprinkled by the rutting elephants of the invited kings who were dearest to him, and it was made lovely at the gates with plantain and areca trunks set up. Kurus and Srnjayas, Kaikeyas, Vidarbhas, Yadus and Kuntis took pleasure in one another there, while people ran about in the bustle. Hearing the carrying off of Rukmini sung here and there, the kings and the kings' daughters were struck with wonder. King, there was a great gladness among the townsfolk in Dvaraka at seeing Krsna, the lord of Sri, joined with Rukmini, who is Fortune.
