Rukmini said: It is just as you say, lotus-eyed one, that I am no match for you, the Bhagavan, who has no measure. Where is the Bhagavan, master of the three, who takes his delight in his own greatness, and where am I, whose nature is made of the strands, whose feet are taken hold of by the ignorant? It is true: as if from fear of the strands the wide-strider lies within the sea, the self who is nothing but awareness; and you are always at war with the bad company of the senses; and a king's seat has been shaken off as blind darkness by those who serve you. The road of the sages who take the honey of your lotus feet is not a clear one, and men who are cattle can hardly make it out. As the Lord's doing seems to be no doing of this world, so is yours, boundless one, and so is theirs who follow after you.

Surely you have nothing, since there is nothing that is not yours; and even the eaters of the offering, the unborn one and the rest, carry the offering to you. Men who fill their bellies, blinded by riches, do not know that you are the ender. You are dearest to the eaters of the offering, and they are yours. You are made of everything a man can aim at; you are the fruit itself; and wanting you, people of good mind let the whole of it go. Their company is what suits you, mighty one, and not that of a man and a woman coupling, who have their pleasures and their pains. Sages who have laid down the rod tell of your power; you are the self of the worlds and the giver of the self: so I chose you, letting go of the lotus-born and the lords of heaven, whose hopes are broken by the rush of time set going from your brow. What then of the others?
