Proud one, I see no other housewife in these houses as loving as you, who at the time of your own wedding thought nothing of the kings who had come, and sent a brahmin to me in secret as your messenger, having heard my true story told. The disfiguring of your brother, beaten in battle, and at a wedding festival his killing at the dice gathering: you could not bear the grief that rose in you, and out of fear of being parted from us you said nothing at all. By that you have won us. You sent a messenger to get me, with a message kept well to itself; and when I was slow in coming, thinking all this empty, you would have given up this body of yours, which is fit for no one else. Let that stand: we give you our thanks for it.

And so too in the houses of the others, Hari, the mighty one, the teacher of the world, kept to the duties that belong to householders, as though he were a man with a house of his own.
