13When they heard this from what Narada told them, king, anger rose in them, and, urged on by Ugrasena, they made ready to move against the Kurus. 14But Rama, who takes away the stain of the Kali age, soothed those bulls of the Vrsnis, armed as they already were; he did not want a quarrel between the Kurus and the Vrsnis. 15He went to Hastinapura in a chariot bright as the sun, with brahmins and the elders of his family around him, like the moon among the planets. 16Having come to the city named for the elephant, Rama stayed in a garden outside it and sent Uddhava to Dhrtarastra, to find out how things stood. 17He saluted Ambika's son, and Bhisma and Drona and Bahlika and Duryodhana, as is proper, and told them Rama had come.
18Delighted to hear that Rama, the best of friends, had come, they honoured him and all went out to meet him with the auspicious things in their hands. 19Meeting him as is right, they offered him a cow and water for washing; and those among them who knew what he can do bowed their heads to Bala.
