Then one day Yudhisthira sat in the middle of the hall, ringed by sages, by brahmins and kshatriyas and merchants, and by his brothers, by teachers and by the elders of the family, by kinsmen and connections and friends; and while all of them listened he spoke, and said this: Govinda, with the Rajasuya, the king of rites, I will worship those powers of yours that make clean. Bring it about for us, master. Those who serve your two sandals without a break, who meditate on them and, being clean, praise them, sandals that destroy what is not good, find release from birth, you whose navel is a lotus; and if they ask for gifts, Lord, they get them, and no one else does.

So, god of gods, let this world here see what comes of serving your lotus feet. Mighty one, show the Kurus and the Srnjayas where both sorts stand, those who worship you and those who do not. You are Brahman, the self of all, seeing evenly, tasting a happiness of your own; there is no thought in you of your own and another's. Your grace to those who serve you is like the grace of the tree of heaven: what comes of it matches the service, and there is nothing crooked in it.
