Turning this over inside himself he came near his own house, and found it ringed on every side with mansions like the sun and the fire and the moon, with strange groves and gardens crowded with families of birds calling, and waters where the white lily and the lotus and the kahlara and the blue lotus stood open, and full of well-dressed men and of women with the eyes of does. What is this? Whose place is it? How has it come to be? So he wondered. Seeing his wife shining out like a goddess in a heavenly car, standing bright among servants with gold at their throats, he was amazed.
