He set me up on the chariot with its four splendid horses, raised the Sarnga, and stood in the fight in his armour, with four arms. And Daruka drove the chariot with its golden fittings away while the kings looked on, queen, as the king of beasts goes off while the deer look on. Those kings came after us, and some of them stood in the road to stop us, ready, with their bows raised, like village dogs against a lion. Their arms and legs and necks cut off by the flood of arrows loosed from the Sarnga, some of them fell in that fight and others let go and ran. Then the lord of the Yadus went into Kusasthali, the city all decked out, with sunshade banners and hangings and painted arches, the city they praise in heaven and on earth, as the sun goes into his own house.
