39Salutation to the Endless, the vast; salutation to Krsna the ordainer; to him who is the spreading out of enumeration and of yoga; to Brahman, the supreme Self. 40The sight of you two is hard for beings to get, and yet not hard to get, since we, whose nature is passion and darkness, have got it by chance. 41Daityas, Danavas and gandharvas, siddhas, vidyadharas and caranas, yaksas and raksasas and pisacas, and the chiefs of the spirits and the goblins, 42keep their enmity fixed for ever upon you, who are plainly the home of unmixed clarity and whose body is the teaching; and we do too, and others like us. 43Some have come near by an enmity held up, some by devotion, some by desire; the gods and the rest, stirred up as they are by clarity, are not brought so near.
44That it is this, and that it is thus: even the masters of yoga do not for the most part know your yogamaya, lord of the lords of yoga. How then should we? 45So be gracious to us. Let me come out of this blind well of a house, which is other than the thought of your lotus feet that those who want nothing seek out; and, having got my living at the feet of the world's refuge, let me walk at peace, alone, or with all as my friends. 46Instruct us, lord of those who are ruled; make us free of wrong, master. A man who stands with trust in what you say is set loose from the command that drives him.
