Bhagavan said: Son of the Self-born, long ago in Janaloka there was a sitting on Brahman held by the sages who lived there, born of the mind, whose seed goes upward. While you had gone to Svetadvipa to see the lord there, the talk of Brahman came round well, the talk in which the Vedas lie; and there this question arose, the one you now ask me. Equal in learning, in austerity and in conduct, equal towards their own people, their enemies and those between, they had one of them speak, and the rest were the listeners. The Vedas, at the end of that, wake the supreme one, who has drunk in this world of his own making and lies asleep with his powers, and they wake him by the marks that are his.

as bards who live by him come at first light and wake a sleeping emperor with fine verses about his feats.
