Asked so by the Bhagavan, whose words rained down nectar, his weariness gone, he told him what he had done. Bhagavan said: If it is so, then we do not put our trust in that word of his, who by Daksa's curse became a ghoul, the king of ghosts and goblins. If you have trust in him, lord of the Danavas, as the teacher of the world, then, dear one, lay your hand quickly on your own head and see. If Sambhu's word is in any way untrue, bull of the Danavas, then kill him whose speech is false, so that he will not speak untruth again. So, his mind broken open by the Bhagavan's clever and very smooth words, the ill-minded one forgot himself and laid his own hand on his head.

Then his head split and he fell in an instant, as though struck by the thunderbolt. Cries of victory, cries of salutation and cries of well done rose up in the sky. The sages of the gods, the fathers and the gandharvas let fall showers of flowers when the wicked Vrka was killed; and Siva was set free from the strait.
