7We bow, master, to your lotus feet, with understanding and senses and breath and mind and speech: feet held in the heart within by those who are full of feeling and want release from the wide cord that is made of works. 8By a maya of three strands you bring forth in yourself what is manifest and hard to think out, and you keep it and take it away, standing in its strands. Yet you are not stained by these works, Unconquered one, for you delight in a happiness of your own with nothing in between, and there is no fault in you. 9For men of ill will, you who deserve praise, there is no cleansing by learning or heard texts or study or giving or austerity or rites such as comes, bull among them, to men whose self is clarity, by a good trust grown great in your fame and gathered up out of hearing.
10Let your foot be our safety, the comet that burns off ill purpose: the foot that sages carry in a heart gone soft, and that the Satvatas, who possess themselves, worship in his array at each pressing of the day, that they may have greatness like his and pass beyond the delights of heaven. 11The foot that is thought on by men with cleansed hands at the fire of the sacrifice, Lord, taking the offering by the rule the three Vedas set out; and that is sought on every side in the yoga of the inner self by yogins, and by the greatest of the Lord's own, who want to know his own maya. 12Mighty one, this revered goddess Sri is in rivalry with the forest garland you have worn since yesterday, as a second wife would be. May that foot, taking up the worship she offers so well, be for us always the comet that burns off ill purpose.
