40Seeing this, king, and having heard what the Bhagavan said, and seeing the terrible signs, Uddhava, who followed Krsna always, 41went up to him where they were alone, to the Lord of the lords of the worlds, bowed his head to his feet, and with his hands joined spoke to him. 42God of gods and their lord, lord of yoga, whose hearing and whose praising make clean: having drawn this family in you will surely leave the world, for though you are the Lord and could do it, you did not turn the brahmins' curse aside. 43Kesava, I cannot bring myself to leave your lotus feet, not for half a moment. Master, take me too to your own abode.
44Krsna, your play is the most auspicious thing there is for men. Having tasted its nectar in their ears, people give up wanting anything else. 45In lying down and sitting, in walking and standing, in bathing and playing and eating, how are we, who are given to you, to give you up, our own dear self? 46Smeared with the garlands and scents and clothes and ornaments you have used, and eating what is left from your plate, your servants will get the better of your maya.
