King, I have many teachers, taken up by my own understanding; and having got understanding from them, I go about here free. Hear who they are. Earth, wind, sky, water, fire, the moon, the sun, the dove, the python, the sea, the moth, the honey-maker, the elephant. The honey-thief, the deer, the fish, Pingala, the osprey, the child, the girl, the arrow-maker, the snake, the spider, the wasp. These, king, are my teachers, four and twenty of them, and I have gone to them; and by learning from the ways they live I learned here about myself. Son of Nahusa, what I learn from which of them, and how, hear it just as it is, tiger among men; I will tell you.
