So put away by your wish to know the confusion of manyness in the self, and setting your mind, now clean of dust, on me who am everywhere, come to rest. If you cannot hold the mind unmoving on Brahman, then do all your works for me and expect nothing from them. Trusting, he hears my stories, which bring good and make the worlds clean; he sings them and calls them to mind, and acts out my deeds and my birth again and again; and carrying out dharma and desire and gain for my sake, and taking his shelter in me, Uddhava, he comes to an unshaken devotion to me, who am from everlasting. Waiting on me in me with a devotion got in the company of the true, he comes without trouble to that place of mine which the good have shown him.
