Not to be proud, not to make a show, not to tell over what one has done, and not to use for oneself even the light of a lamp that has been given to me; whatever is most wanted in the world and whatever the self holds dearest, one should offer that to me; and it comes then to have no end. The sun, fire, the brahmin, cows, the man given to Visnu, the sky, the wind, water, the earth, the self, and all beings: these, good friend, are the places where I am worshipped. In the sun worship me with the threefold knowledge, in fire with the offering poured, in the foremost brahmin with hospitality, and in cows, dear one, with grass and the rest;

in the man given to Visnu by treating him well as a kinsman; in one's own heart by keeping steady in meditation; in the wind by holding it to be the chief; in water with things offered, water going first; on the bare ground with the hearts of the mantras; in the self, with enjoyments, the self; and in all beings worship me, the knower of the field, by holding them all alike.
