many have come to my place: the son of Tvastr, the son of Kayadha and the rest, Vrsaparvan, Bali, Bana, Maya, and Vibhisana, Sugriva, Hanuman, the bear, the elephant, the vulture, the trader, the hunter, the hunchbacked girl, the cowherd women in Vraja, the wives of the sacrificers, and others besides. They had not studied the collections of what is heard, nor waited on the greatest men, nor kept vows, nor burned themselves in austerity. By the company of the true they came to me. By feeling alone the cowherd women, the cows, the trees and the deer, and others of dull mind, the snakes, reached fulfilment and came to me without any trouble:

me, whom a man could not reach by yoga or by enumeration, by giving, by vows, by austerity or by sacrifices, by expounding or by his own study or by renouncing, however hard he tried.
