The nights in Vrndavana· Verses 10–13

10When the son of Svaphalka took me away to Mathura with Rama, their minds were bound to me in love, and with that feeling gone deep and the sharp pains of being parted from me, they saw nothing else that could make them happy. 11Those nights they passed with me, the dearest of all to them, when I went about in Vrndavana, were like half a moment; and afterwards, dear one, the same nights without me became as long as an age. 12With their minds bound to me by that clinging, they did not know their own selves, nor that, nor this, as sages in deep stillness do not, or as rivers that have run into the water of the sea no longer know name and form.
13Wanting me, taking me for a lover who was not their own, not knowing what I really am, those women came by that clinging, in their hundreds and thousands, to me, the highest Brahman.
