In plain words
Jōgī, celibate, ascetic, sannyāsī, roaming from one place of pilgrimage to the next, the hair-plucked, the grass-girdled, the silent, the matted-haired: in the end, even so, death. So serve Rām. The man whose tongue holds love for Rām's name: what can Death do to him? *(refrain)* They know āgam and nigam, they know the stars, they know grammar upon grammar. They know every tantra, every mantra, every medicine: in the end, even so, death. Kingly pleasures, the canopy and the throne, and many a beautiful woman to lie with, betel leaf, camphor, sweet-scented sandal: in the end, even so, death. I have searched the Vedas, the Purāṇas, all the Smṛtis, and nowhere is there any rescue. Says Kabīr, this is how I say Rām, and birth and dying are rubbed out.
