In plain words

Let silence be your earrings and mercy your begging bag; make reflection the bowl you carry. I stitch this body of mine for my patched cloak, and I make the Nām my support. Earn a jōg like this, jōgī. Chanting, austerity, restraint: it is the gurmukh who tastes them. *(refrain)* I rub on my own understanding for ashes, and I have joined awareness to make my horn. I take up bairāg and walk the city of the body, playing the fiddle of the mind. Take the five elements and hold them in the heart, and the *tāṛī* will hold with nothing to prop it. Says Kabīr, listen, saints: plant your garden with dharam and mercy. *tāṛī*, the jōgī's fixed trance.
