In plain words
Daśaratha, lamenting to Rāma: O son of me, the great sinner! Today you are going, wanting the forest that no one wants, sharp stones piercing your soft feet like spear-points in enemies' hands till the blood pours, the sun scorching you and the pain of cruel hunger growing sharp. I of grievous deeds heeded the words of that monstrous sinner [Kaikēyi] whom the king of the Kēkayas bore as his daughter. Alas, what shall I do?
