Letters of Swami Vivekananda

My heart is aching for Kashi

Revered sir,

After many days of trying, I think I have at last managed to come near you. In a day or two I shall be at your feet in holy Kashi.

I am staying here for a few days at the house of a gentleman from Calcutta, but my heart is aching for Kashi.

I mean to stay there for some time and see what Vishwanath and Annapurna will do with my ill fortune. This time I have vowed: 'Either I shall let this body fall, or I shall realize the mantra.' May the Lord of Kashi help me.

Your servant,

Narendranath.
