In plain words

To those who have reached the feet you are bliss without end, a wealth that does not grow less though it gives in plenty. You are God, who passed beyond origin and middle and end and went beyond all three times. You are the unique flame of light that rose up unshaken, hidden from the eye of flesh, though not from the eye within. You are the sound in the heart that rises from the body's own parts and does not reach the two ears by way of the openings in the bone. You are the divine nectar that refuses the way of the tongue set in the mouth and wells up sweet within. You are the fine fragrance smelt in awareness, not by the old way through the nostrils. Taking on no other nature, you stood as all things yourself, O Reality. You are the sprout of flame that makes all that appears appear within itself, and does not have its own appearing in anything else. Though the white moon lies on the spreading locks, O sole Lord, your throat is spread with darkness. The Veda and the two pursued you and stood bewildered. O ruby of Marutu, who took Marutu for your place! O husband of Umā! O my sole Lord, whose unblinking eyes are three! Hear without anger the grievance of your servant. The cruel viṉai of long days spent with base, stone-hearted men who do not bow to your feet dragged me into the dark prison cell called the womb. There I wore the chain called the intestines and was fettered. Like a worm in a caged prison I sank into the gathered filth, suffered with it, and lay there long days. The warders who punish, who take the names of many diseases and bring affliction, pressed in and tormented me. In the fire of the belly I writhed and writhed. Under the whip of wind I took the blows. I could not lie or stand or walk, and I lay cramped in a narrow place. Then I was put in the portion of sin. The cruel five were set over me as guards. I and the body were bound with pācam in the long fetters of desire, and slowly let go. After that I too came forth and toiled for evil. I wronged the great. I seized the goods of others. I gave up pity. I killed many lives. I praised the looks of other men's wives. I told many lies. I embraced base company. As the five pressed me hard, I gathered what I craved, and came back again with what I had heaped up. I never put things again where I had put them, and never stayed again where I had been. Now I have come into distress, and for many days I lie wilting. I do not see the path to vīṭu. Take me too as a slave to the servants of the servants who have reached you. Take the green leaf that was offered, stand by me and make the good known to me. Make me escape this prison, and guard me in grace so that I never enter a prison again, O you whose red matted locks are like massed fire!
